Genital (genetal) herpies, warts, molluscum contagiousum

Genital (genetal) herpies is a viral infection from a virus which is either HSV-2 (the most common genital herpes) or HSV-1 (often appearing as cold sores but sometimes also affecting gentals). Genetal warts is something different and are caused by the HPV virus (human papillomavirus). Not all strains of HPV will cause genital warts (gental wharts).

Genital (genetal) herpies

If you become infected with genetal herpes, sometimes there may be symptoms seen but unfortunately also in other cases no symptoms at all - many cases of HSV-2 will actually show no symptoms at all. After the initial infection, there is a period of no activity, the so called latency period which is followed by the recurrance. During activity outbreaks (whether being the initial or one of the recurrances) the signs and symptoms of genital herpes are blisters developing, then after a while burst open and finally scab over. The cycle of this is normally 1-2 weeks.

There are cases where HSV-2 gential herpes infections, can start with a long period completely free of symptoms before the initial outbreak takes place. In a case like that, the first outbreak is typically mild since the immune system will have had time to create viral antibodies. This type of delayed primary infection viral outbreaks also typically heal faster, produce less and milder symptoms are often also less contagious.

HSV-1 primary infections may in some cases be fairly severebut the following recurrance outbreaks may then be less frequent and also less intense if compared to the HSV-2 genitle herpies outbreak. Due to the fact that as many as 20-25% of the female infected patients are able to transmit the virus during the period of the first three months after the initial outbreak took place, even after the healing of all blisters - it is vital to test any female patients reporting vaginal discharges. From month four and onwards the virus is less contagious.

Genital warts - genetal warts - gential wharts

Genatal warts (sometimes refered to as genetal wharts) are small bumps of the same color as flesh, often very small. These bumps can be found in either the genital or the anus areas. Genital warts are also known to be able to affect the cervix of female patients and if left without treatment, this can increase the risk of developing cervical cancer. Genetal wharts is a very contagious condition and because it is possible to be both infected and contagious at the same time, without displaying any signs or symptoms - it can be easily understood why this is a very spread infection. Gential wharts is in fact the most common of the sexually transmitted diseases.

With the use of condoms there is some protection against the condition, but it is not any secure guarantee that genetal warts will be stopped from transfering. The most frequent types of HPV that are causing genetial wharts are types no 6 and no 11 but luckily, these two types are also the two least likely in the triggering of cervical cancer.

For the removal of genatal warts there are methods such as cryotherapy or even laser therapy and also some chemical methods. By removing the gential warts, it does not mean that the virus is removed as well so much like with gential herpies, the virus is still there and it is  likely to cause future recurrent outbreaks. It may well be that you have to remove the warts more times later.

Molluscium contagiosum (molluscum) - moluscum

Molluscium contagiosum (molluscum - moluscum contagiousum) is a virus infection of the skin that appears first like small spots, often pink-ish in color and typically also pearl-shaped. These mollusciae may occur at any age however the molluscium contagiosum is most common in children. The condition is not a very serious one and it typically heals all by itself within a couple of months although in some cases the molluscum may be there for a longer period.

This condition is a viral infection stemming from the poxvirus. It transferes via any direct contact, whether sexual or not, or even by indirect contacts such as via a towel or areas and surfaces in common swimming pools. Molluscum conagiosum signs (symptoms) usually are visible within 2-8 weeks from the original molluscium infection.

Treating genital herpes (genatal herpees)

There is presently no fully functioning medical cure for genitile herpies but by using antiviral drugs you can treat the symptoms of genital herpies which will also help in prevention of future recurrences of the genatal herpes or be helpful in prolonging of the period between recurrences. Using antiviral medicine will also be helpful in preventing the transmission of genetal herpes to your sexual partner. Listing some of the more popular antiviral drugs with their properties:

Zorivax, or Acyclovir - Aciclovir - Geavir gential herpes treatment

This is (these are) a prescription drug. It is in tablet form, 5 per day or for preventive use, 2 tablets per day.

Valacyclovir (Valtrex) gential medication

This is also a prescription drug. Pills to be taken twice a day for 5 days. They can also be taken preventively and in that case it is suggested to use one tablet a day.

Famciclovir (Famvir) genatal medicine

Yet another prescription drug, this one to be administered twice a day for five days.

Eye herpes

The ocular herpes (eye herpes) will affect only one eye at a time. The usual culprit is the HSV-1 virus unless it is a retinal infection, in which case the HSV-2 is more likely. There are now nearly half a million Americans with recurring ocular herpies and nearly 50 thousand cases added each year. It has been most frequent in children but it is also increasing in the older population. Eye herpes can cause blurred eyesight, corneal lesions and sudden pain before it normally heals in a few weeks.

Gential herpies stages

The primary, or initial outbreak is the first collection of signs and symptoms after the infection. This outbreak can happen anytime within few days up to a couple of weeks after the transfer. After the primary (initial) outbreak there is normally a period of inactivity called the dormant period which can be between one or a few months during the first period of infection. After that, there is the first recurrent genitle herpes outbreak (later to be followed with more recurrencies but with longer intervals) which is typically milder than the initial outbreak.

Genitile herpes signs, symptoms

Symptoms ans signs of genatal herpies are typically that there is a development of small blisters in the area that was infected (which is usually the genitals). These blisters can develop into fairly painful ones but typically only for a short period such as a week or two. After this short period, they heal without scars.

During the symptom activity (and just before the signs of genital herpes), you will be contagious and it is recommended to avoid sexual activity. Once the blisters have healed, you are normally no more contagious and can resume sex.

Treatment of genatal herpies symptoms

There is presently no medication or procedure capable of removing the gental herpes completely. What you can use is drugs for treating the symptoms of genital herpes in order to make them easier to live with. The virus infection will not be affected with this method though and that means that the virus is still present inside your body and it may at any time become activated again. These activations are called recurrences and these are more frequent in the beginning of the infection (first 1-2 years),  then normally they fade away and will recur with very long intervals only.

How to remove genital herpes (gental herpees)

Genetal herpies symptoms can be removed using cryotherapy, which is where the physician uses a method of freezing to remove them. There are also laser therapy methods for treatment. Even though genital herpies have been removed, they are still able to recur and this is also fairly likely to happen since the virus is still present and may come out of dormancy and become active again at any time. Other methods for removing gential herpees also exist, such as the use of LEEP (Loop Elecrosurgical Excicion procedure) as well as further different chemical methods for genital herpies removal. Genital (genetal) warts and moluscum contagiosum (contagiousum) removal methods are similar. Genatal herpes and gental warts removal summary.

Genatal herpes

Genital herpes infections are very common in the United States. Nearly fifty million people above 12 years of age, which amounts to nearly 20%, have had a genital herpies infection. There has been a vast increase in the infection rate over the last thirty years. Gential (genetile) short summary of gental herpes and gental warts.
